Yeah I guess it's the linear focus this time around.I just wanted better storytelling.the script is a bit plastic and the characters are over the top but not in a fun way.they seem to change their minds about going on missions at the flip of a coin, they're all 'no I'm out, it's too hard, I'm giving up' then theyre suddenly 'I'm IN LETS DO IT'.you just don't believe a word their saying by the end so that's a bit of an opportunity missed when everything else is so good. Bajo I was expecting a little more in the way of vehicle missions.most of them are on rails. Some are dumb and stand out in the open, but others will seek you out and purposefully destroy your cover. And it was fun.Įnemies stumble if you shoot their leg and then continue to fight on one knee, they'll grab their necks and generally take bullets with a very satisfying crumple. Yeah Hex, the controls are perfectly tuned from the weight of the weapon to it's recoil - they're pretty forgiving for recoil and there's no need to steady a sniper rifle but it worked. It's such a good selection of guns, there's heaps of them and they're all fun - in fact the gunplay in general is suburb. Weapons are scattered about each mission for you to collect, increasing in awesomeness as you work your way through the campaign.
and the frame rate doesn't skip a beat in any of this. There is an enormous number of red barrels though, which is a lazy way to make explosions happen - every single truck apparently needs red barrels on the back.and the weapons crates all over the place make things a bit easy at times.but you end up not caring that much because there's such a joy in watching bits of wall explode all over the place. Often you'll forget this until a tank or an RPG wipes out the wall you're hiding behind, which then reminds you that you can do the same. It was a little toooo foggy at times.and if you sprint forward into it or into some of the levels you'll just get instantly killed by a phantom shooter because the game doesn't want you to move that fast so it has time to play out the script it's written for that scenario. It's a little unfair to make you restart from a checkpoint because the game wants you to slow down but what makes Bad Company different from the rest is that you can pretty much destroy anything, to some extent. There's a big focus on particle effects and smoke here.often you'll be waiting for sand or snow to ying to make out enemies through the fog and aim for their gun flashes if you can't see their heads.I don't think it's to hide draw distance or anything, it's just to add atmosphere Locations vary from lush jungles, snowy mountains and sandy plains and they look great all with decent sized maps. Sometimes you have to backtrack and seek out that last goon your squad simply can't hit because they're crap at shooting.they can't hit anything. Yeah, if you fail one way you end up experimenting and prioritising targets, and trying to flank enemies while your squad keeps them busy. Hex I found you still had those multiple approaches to scenarios, but they also felt like slow pushing, tough battles with crafted points that you could tell have been thought out to give you a good fight. It's much more fun this way, there's no health-stims or re-spawning either - death means go back to the checkpoint. The structure of the storytelling here is slightly different to the first, there's only one mission that isn't linear and that one is a hub map, so you can expect more Call of Duty moments than Battlefield ones. It was a console exclusive that boasted and delivered some pretty decent destruction and the sequel ups the ante in every respect.Īfter an exciting jungle prologue, B-Company find themselves caught up in an almost-war, with the tipping point being a devastating weapon of mass destruction.
yes the destruction filled Bad Company was the first in the BF series to really focus on a singleplayer story.
I almost forgot what playing on dedicated servers was like for a bit there Hex.
Battlefield Bad Company 2 once again takes a ragtag team of 4 misfit soldiers into special ops combat, and unlike the first game, now we can play it on PC with dedicated servers.
